Christmas has passed and so has New Year’s Eve.  What happened to 2017!!!!

It has gone so fast!  What seems to be far in the future always seems to arrive faster than anticipated.

Looking back at 2017, I’m amazed at how much has been done here at Little Utica UMC during the past year.   We had several special services, a wedding, and received new members into our congregation.

Expanding our worship services this year was very exciting.  From April to November we had worship services on Saturday afternoons in addition to our regular Sunday morning services.  I’m really looking forward to resuming Saturday services on April 28th.   The Saturday services brought new families to worship with us.  For those unable to attend services on Sunday, these Saturday afternoon services have provided them with the opportunity to worship the Lord at a time when they are able to attend.

This is a small church with a huge heart.  Our mission work, in our own backyard and on a larger scale, astounds me.  In all the churches I have been associated with, I’ve never seen so few people make such a tremendous difference in our own backyards and far beyond.

Once again this year, we honored veterans at a special Veterans Day Service.

Our commitment to veterans continues with our support of the Cpl. Kyle R. Schneider Foundation, having helped raise funds to buy two new vans to transport veterans to doctors, hospitals, and other locations they need to go.

We are also raising funds to supply companion and service dogs for local vets.

As tempting as it is to look back on all we have done in 2017, I want to let you know of some of the plans we have for 2018.  Among them are a breakfast and special worship service to honor local fire departments and police, an outdoor worship service and picnic, and a Blessing of the Animals service, an outdoor baptism, and welcoming more new members.

Little Utica continues to grow in spirit and in numbers.  As this new year gets under way, I can hardly wait to see where God will lead us.

I wish you all a happy and Christ-filled 2018.
