United Methodist Women

 of Little Utica UMC

Seasons Greetings,

It doesn’t seem possible that we are rapidly approaching the holiday season. Looking back, 2019 has been a very exciting and productive year. The month of October was extremely busy for both the men’s and women’s groups of Little Utica UMC. The dinner honoring Bishop Mark Webb was not only a memorable event, but a huge success as well.  Our annual Craft Fair was also a big success, featuring several vendors and a bake sale. October also brought our participation in an auction as part of our ongoing support of The Schneider Foundation, in honor of Cpl. Kyle R. Schneider. We also support the Foundation by donating mittens, hats, scarves, and gloves that are collected on a tree in the weeks leading up to the holiday season. Beautiful lap robes and blankets, made by several of our members, are donated as well. We also provide food vouchers and grocery store gift cards to assist military families with holiday grocery shopping expenses. Our support of The Foundation also included our participation in the auction on Oct. 5th. Many of our members donated baked goods, and baskets that were sold in a silent auction. Many also worked in the kitchen, setting up, and cleaning up at the end. The auction was a huge success!

As many are aware, The New 2 You and Schoolhouse Boutique are the most important missions for the women of Little Utica UMC. All proceeds from our sales go to the church, which in turn uses these funds in support of local causes. These include donations to the Warner’s Food Pantry and The Conference Hub Mission. Additionally, through the Cluster Group, a donation was made to the Hannibal Christmas Carnival. The Carnival is a major fundraising effort which provides Christmas gifts, and a complete Christmas dinner, for families who would otherwise go without. The UMW also works closely with local Fire Departments, who notify us of any family who is in need of clothing and household goods.

Please mark your calendars for our Saturday, Dec. 7th sale, which will be the last Saturday in this year that the Schoolhouse will be open. The New 2 You Boutique offers a wide selection of winter coats and other cold weather clothing items. Come and take advantage of this opportunity to purchase winter essentials very reasonably. This mission provides a service to the community by ensuring that everyone has access to these items at very affordable prices

As we turn the page on 2019, and look forward to 2020, we would like to express our appreciation to two very important groups. To our many loyal customers, a heartfelt Thank You for supporting our mission throughout the year. And to those who make donations of good quality items, you enable us to keep our standards high, and we could not operate without you.

We want to wish everyone a very happy holiday season, and a happy healthy, and productive New Year.

Blessings to All,

Donna Fingland, UMW President
